Join Ryan Chada once a month for Silent Buddhism Meditation. Secular Buddhism is a non-dogmatic way of understanding and practicing Buddhism. We are the prisoners of our own minds. We are bound by our concepts & ideas. Rather than presenting us with a set of beliefs that we can choose to believe in or not, Buddhist teachings are something we do. These teachings help us to learn to look inward, to discover that nothing is permanent and that everything is constantly changing and that all things are interdependent. With this wisdom, comes the understanding that the things we seek outside ourselves, are actually found within.

What to expect: Our program will consist of two silent sitting 30-minute meditation periods with 10 minutes of walking meditation in between, allowing time for discussion at the end. Instruction will be available at 6:15pm prior to each meeting. Please plan to arrive then if you wish to receive instruction. Meditation begins promptly at 6:30pm. All are welcome regardless of prior experience. Please bring your own meditation cushion and/or a blanket if you have one, otherwise we will do our best to provide enough for the group.
*6:15pm - 6:30pm - New Participants receive instruction.
*6:20pm - 6:30pm - Experienced zazen practitioners can arrive.
*Meditation will begin promptly at 6:30pm and goes to 8pm. Please arrive by 6:30pm, so not to disturb others once Meditation has begun.
What to wear: Please wear modest and non-distracting clothing. Clothing should cover legs and shoulders. Long pants, skirts, and dresses that are clean, loose fitting, and of subdued colors are appropriate. Please do not wear jeans, shorts, or short skirts/dresses, noisy jewelry, tank-tops or shirts with messages, hats, perfume, essential oils or cologne.). Your attire should in no way call attention to itself or disturb the spirit of silence and harmony of the group. We look forward to meeting you.
About the facilitator: Ryan Chada has been devoted to the practices of Buddhism since 2019. He has studied and has teachers in both the Theravada and Mahayana schools of Buddhism. He enjoys helping others learn about meditation and Buddhism. Ryan is a loving husband and father, musician, and an avid organic gardener with a passion for cooking.
